The answer: They want to talk. They have never not wanted to talk.
If they say they are busy, they probably are. Just ask them to send you a message when they can chat.
Just ask them if they want to stop or anything. It’s pretty simple. Communicate your fears. They’ll answer you.
this isn’t always true :(
this is going to sound mean but I have had people message me incessantly when I had no interest or desire to talk to them ever again but who I didn’t have the heart to tell to go away
and there are plenty of people around who just aren’t usually interested in one-on-one conversations even with their close friends
I think people have the “oh god what if they don’t like me anymore” anxiety because they’ve been on the other side of that situation and know full well that it’s possible
